Li Shunqing, the founding patriarch of Family Li Cuisine, was once the Lord Secretary to the imperial household of the Qing dynasty, with the responsibility of overseeing the imperial kitchen. After his retirement, he returned to his hometown to write down everything he could recall of the imperial menu’s ingredients and cooking methods, to be his legacy to his descendants.
